On October 14, 2023  Chigi Palace in Ariccia inaugurated the exhibition paying tribute to Michelangelo Merisi (1571-1610), commonly known as Caravaggio. The event was made possible due to a generous contribution by several partners, like Lubea s.r.l, leading Italian company in the telecommunications field led by Dr. Mura Giuseppe.

The exhibition, open to the public till January 2024, represents the Presa di Cristo, one of the most iconic works of art painted by Caravaggio whose subtle contrasts of light and shadows show the drama of the moment. The masterpiece, commissioned by Ciriaco Mattei in 1603 and later purchased by Merisi, shows the moment where Jesus is betrayed by Judas and captured in the Garden of Gethsemane. Through his incredible talent, Caravaggio shows Judas’ grief and Jesus’ resignation to his unavoidable destiny. Thanks to restoration works by the art conservator Carla Mariani people can finally admire the authentic masterpiece.

As a result of audience appreciation, Lubea CEO, stated as follows: It is such an honor for me to be here, today, as a partner of this incredible achievement: the Presa di Cristo hasn’t been exhibited since 1951 and, now, everyone can finally admire it. Chigi Palace is a kind of time capsule with its authentic decorations, tapestries, and paintings from the XVII century. I would like to thank Francesco Petrucci, art conservator at Chigi Palace, whose expertise and knowledge were crucial to restore this masterpiece. A special thanks also goes to Ariccia mayor for giving me the opportunity to sponsor this event.
